The Seven Vowels
Lingala has seven vowel sounds, including two "open" vowels (ε and ɔ) that don't exist in English:
a - like "ah" in "father"
e - like "ay" in "day" (but shorter)
ε - like "e" in "bed" (open e)
i - like "ee" in "see"
o - like "o" in "go"
ɔ - like "aw" in "law" (open o)
